This innovative and retro styled concept mobile phone design by Raymond Bessemer for Samsung. Is a mobile phone that uses a capacitive OLED display, removable stylus and physical rotary dial.

                                                                                                    
The design has a retro feel by the use of the rotary dial number pad which was used on phone in the and around the 1970's.

The concept is designed for the year 2015 and uses writing via a stylus rather than a keyboard for texting and note taking.But the hole in the middle of the dial would be very tempting to me to spin the phone on my finger, which could cause a few replacements having to be sent out by mobile provider.

The World's First GPS Goggles w/Head Mounted Display

Sports lens developer Zeal Optics and display innovator Recon Instruments has managed to successfully squeeze both GPS technology and head-mounted display into a set of ski goggles named Transcend

                                                  
 A tiny computer gathers information from a number of onboard sensors and provides location, speed, altitude and temperature information to the wearer via a micro-LCD display inside the goggles.The image from the display is then virtually projected so that it appears out in front of the user.

GPS Goggles Specification:

A head-mounted LCD screen displayed shows the inside of the glass real-time speed, altitude, vertical odometer, distance, position and temperature, and monitoring of the time with a stopwatch and timer mode.

                                                               

GPS Googles  is also a USB port to allow users to travel to a computer or laptop and charges the lithium-ion battery that is said to seven hours between charges be downloaded.The optical system has been made to appear as though it hangs six feet in front of the user.The designers say the optics are non-obstructive for front and peripherial vision.
The glasses weigh 257 grams (9 ounces) and comes with a hard case, glasses bag cleaning adapter and charger with European countries and North America.

There will be two Recon/Zeal Optics Transcend lens options available at limited release launch on October 10. The option with an SPPX polarized and photochromic lens – which auto adjusts to changing light conditions with  retail price of US$499. Said to reduce glare by 99 per cent, coming with built-in anti-fog technology and benefiting from a wide vision frame, the goggles featuring an SPX polarized lens are priced at US$399.

Sensitive touch for Electronic 'Robot Skin'

Scientists have developed a pressure-sensitive electronic skin which could one day be used to restore touch by patients who have prosthetic limbs.This e-skin is made of semiconductor nanowires that operate using very low voltage. It is the first such material made out of inorganic single crystalline semiconductors. The skin can be applied by rubbing it or rolling it onto a surface and can detect pressure around 0 to 15 kilopascals, which would allow a robot helper, for instance, to do the dishes or handle a pet without causing damage.
                 

                                                           

The Butterfly Touch
At the same time scientists from Stanford University have developed an electronic sensor that it is so sensitive that it can feel a touch as light as a butterfly, manufactured in large sheets, the sensors could be used in artifical electronic skin for robots, touch screen displays, automobile safety and a range of medical applications.
The speed of compression and rebound of the rubber are critical for the sensor to be able to detect and distinguish between separate touches in quick succession.

Automobile safety could also be enhanced. "If a driver is tired, or drunk, or falls asleep at the wheel, their hands might loosen or fall off the wheel," said Benjamin Tee, graduate student in electrical engineering and a coauthor. "If there are pressure sensors that can sense that no hands are holding the steering wheel, the car could be equipped with some automatic safety device that could sound an alarm or kick in to slow the car down. This could be simpler and cost less than other methods of detecting driver fatigue."

The UC Berkeley engineers used an innovative fabrication technique that deposits nanowire 'Hairs'.The researchers started by growing the germamium/silicon nonowires on a cylindrical drum, which was then rolled onto a sticky substrate.

John Boland, a nanotechnologist from Trinity College Dublin praised the two approaches in a critique for Nature Materials.It is the most remarkable aspect of these studies is how they elegantly demonstrate that it is possible to exploit well-established processing technologies to engineer low-cost innovative solutions to important technical problems.

Seiko active-Matrix EPD Watch Will Be Released In Japan

Seiko is looking confidently towards the longer term future as well. In Basel in 2006, they introduced the first ‘Electronic Ink watch'. It surprised the world with a dramatic new way to display time, with a level of visibility far greater than any existing digital watch.

The Seiko active-Matrix EPD Watch will be available soon since the company has now decided to release this watch in Japan during the busy holiday season. It’s available in silver, gold and black. This one features a 300dpi EPD (Matrix Electrophoretic) display with a 180-degree viewing angle.

Some other features include world time with 32 cities, automatic synchronization via radio signal and a stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal. It also sports a built-in solar panel, offering roughly 30 months of display time on a full charge.


The Seiko active-Matrix EPD watch sells for between 94,500 Yen ($1,127) and 105,000 Yen ($1,253).

Energizer Wireless iPhone Charger

We Love anything that helps us get rid of wires around here.Mention alkaline batteries and chances are youwill have both Energizer as well as Duracell names come into mind.Well, this time we will concentrate on the former, as Energizer has just unveiled a spanking new inductive charger for the mass market




It will be built using Qi technology, which is actually a new universal charging standard that was developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).The device will be known as the Energizer Inductive Charger, where it supposedly makes charging devices a whole lot easier as it will help you do away with cords and clutter.

This will be the first generation of the Energizer Inductive Charger, and it was specially designed to conveniently charge up to three devices simultaneously. Two large inductive charging zones that will not require any locking of the device into a precise position are available, while a USB port is also there for you to juice up another device including a phone, headset, MP3 player, camera or GPS unit. With a couple of LED charge lights, they will indicate whether a particular device is charging or not.

For starters, the charger will work with the iPhone or the Blackberry Curve 8900. The battery door for the Blackberry and the sleeve case for the iPhone 3G/3GS are both sold separately.Each Energizer Inductive Charger will be introduced with a Qi Sleeve for the iPhone 3GS/3G alongside a one-time replacement Qi Door for the BlackBerry Curve 8900, letting you get started right out of the box for owners of said devices, of course. One can only expect that as this catches on, more and more devices in the future will come with Qi technology built-in right away.
The Energizer Inductive Charger will hit the retail market from next month onwards, where it will be priced at $89. As for the removable Qi sleeve for the iPhone 3GS/3G and the Qi door for the BlackBerry Curve 8900, those can be purchased separately for $34.99 a pop.

Microsoft's New Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Releases November 9

Microsoft has confirmed previous rumors that is was redesigning the D-Pad element of its Xbox 360 controller launching an upgraded design on November 9 with a new Play & Charge Kit with price of $64.99 according to a company announcement on Tuesday.

Although the new controller is at the moment only set to be sold as part of a the Play & Charge Kit it players like it Microsoft will probably begin to bundle it with new Xbox 360 consoles.
It is a revolutionary D-pad that transforms from a disc into a plus with the twist of a hand." It has a "Plus" format therefore it can be used cardinal directional moves,and the "disc" format is intented for sweeping moves.The controller has 2.4 GHZ Wireless Technology witha 30- foot range.

The market has showed itself to be ready to pay those kind of elevated prices in the past.Around 60 - 70% people assume that this XBOX price is little higher around $10 - $15.

Just think if the Hard Drive sold separately price, or the price of buying a wireless adapter. And people still bought that readily enough.Look at the response it's getting in all of the comment sections of news sites. It would surprise me greatly if this did actually flop.

Microsoft has also announced tweaks to the pricing model for the Xbox Live service, increasing the price tag for the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Mexico, in an effort to keep up with inflation.
